Hi. I’m Emma Marshall and I’m a British travel blogger. I specialise in short trips – primarily trips from one to four nights. As I live in London, many of the trips I write about are based in Europe. However, I also write about worldwide short trips, where applicable.
I love travelling – discovering new places, learning fascinating things about those places and meeting interesting people. Like most keen travellers, this means having to balance this with working to earn the money to visit these places.
Until three years ago, this was a dilemma for me – how to travel frequently enough to fuel my passion, but work enough to fund it: how to travel on a time budget.
Then, after a short weekend away, I discovered that with a bit of planning and organisation, anything is possible; I could still keep the day job and travel frequently. And as my day job involves research, I realised that my strengths in searching, planning and organising were perfect for this type of thing.
So 2016 was the year I experimented with this and found that I was able to visit 10 different places with just my annual leave allowance, plus a few bank holidays thrown in.
It is true that you have to be really organised, and at times creative (see my “top tips” ), but once you start, you’ll be amazed at how many places you can see in a short time.
I know there are many other people trying to balance in the same way as me – trying to carve out time to see amazing places around the world, whilst still holding down a job and career.
This blog is therefore designed to give you some ideas about the places you can visit where you can do just this: places that are easy to get to for a short break. Or the top things to do in a place if you only have limited time.
My posts therefore highlight some of the interesting things I have seen and done whilst travelling on a time budget. You’ll also find ideas for itineraries for when you only have one or two days in a place.
I hope you find my posts useful, but please do let me know if you have any thoughts. And if you’re planning a trip yourself and need some information or advice, get in touch – I’d love to help!
Likewise, I’d be interested in any suggestions you have for other destinations to visit on a time budget.
Thank you for visiting my blog – I hope my posts have given you some inspiration. Happy travelling!
